Rare Vintage

Wearing vintage is rewarding in so many ways. It's affordable, often more durable than clothes these days, and it's unique. When you wear vintage, you never have to worry about someone showing up with the exact same piece. Of course there've been times when I've been uncomfortable, because people are staring at my outfit. Sometimes nearly two seconds later, though, I get a genuine compliment.

Finding rare pieces of vintage in unexpected places is a huge thrill for me. I got this dress in an antique store that hardly carried any clothing at all. The dress and vest I'm wearing here were a set. The shoes are a $2.99 Goodwill find (I also got an identical pair in pink satin!)

P.S. I shot this outfit on the last wooden street in Pittsburgh. Mhmm, that's right...wood. The street is made of wooden pavers, and it has landmark status. If you're in Shadyside, it's a must-see. It's called Roslyn Place and is only 5 minute walk off Walnut Street.
