Seven Spots I Love in Chicago's River North

River North is one of my favorite parts of the city partially, because I live close by, but also, because it’s sort of in the thick of downtown. Most places in River North are a bit pricey, but the experience, atmosphere, and quality of food never lets me down at these places! Also---if you’re visiting Chicago, I highly recommend checking out these places.

O’Callaghan’s (Irish pub)

This was the first bar I went to in Chicago. It’s an Irish pub on Hubbard Street, and I love that I can talk to people, there isn’t a cover, and the bartenders are friendly. Feels like my neighborhood bar. They serve food, but I’ve never had it.

Reservations: no

What I love: tequila and soda or a guiness

Joy District

This place is for when I want to partayyyyyy!! Sometimes there’s a cover, but I’ve never paid over $10. The second floor is where the dance floor gets crazy ;) It’s usually dead Sunday-Wednesday FYI.

Reservations: bottle service from promoters available

What I love: tequila soda, drinks are pricey here so be prepared.

Headquarters Beercade

A giant arcade bar. Skeeball, basketball, and tons of video games!

Reservations: You can book private parties here.

What I love: they have a great draft list of unique beers.
